It was in 2005 that singer Niki Vörös first made her mark on the vibrant Hungarian jazz scene with her original style, her distinctive voice and passionate delivery. For the next 17 years, fronting her own quartet, she was one of the most unique and authentic interpreters of jazz standards in the country. Two extremely successful albums, a string of full houses at home and abroad, among them in London, Athens, Belgrade, Warsaw  or Brussels, to name a few, were the milestones of her remarkable success story.

Following this triumphal march of the Niki Vörös Quartet, she switched direction and changed the band too by forming the Niki Vörös New Project performing exclusively her own compositions that marked a fresh approach.

Niki’s unmistakably characteristic voice projects deeply felt emotions and her strongly expressive style creates a powerful bond with her audience. She uses her art to turn music into the language of emotions reflecting her own personal experiences and life story. Thus her performances are not only entertaining but also invite the audience to join her on a spiritual journey.

Her extensive repetoire includes the wide world of jazz standards as well as her own words and compositions, the latter fusing elements of jazz, rock, indie and electronic music. She is using different line-ups to project different aspects of her artistry but, in all circumstances, maintaining the freedom of expression. It isn’t just technique and sheer virtuosity that make up her style but it is, at the same time, imbued by a deep emotional intelligence. Her performances are unique gems. With her open and sensitive personality and her robust expressiveness she links the listener to the music and takes it into a world that’s brought to life by her own feelings and experiences.
